16ft Showmans Living Van
Circa 1930's

Made by Southern, North and Baker, Bradford, UK

A charming 1 bedroom Towable Showman’s Living Van in excellent condition having undergone substantial renovation in the last few years.

The Mollycroft roof has been professionally repaired this year by a skilled local carpenter.

Fitted with a coal stove, backed with pretty blue and white enamel sheets. (Please see photo)

The double bedroom can either be used as a dining area, seat cushions and removable table included, or as a 6ft x 4ft double bed, new mattress included.

The woodwork under the van has been extensively repaired by the previous owner and is in excellent condition.

The van has had a complete professional redecoration inside and out, including a coat of varnish for extra weather-proofing, in March 2015.

Currently dry stored in a barn in West Dorset.

Having owned and completed the restoration of the van in the last 2 years we have decided that we require a larger family-sized van to rent out to guests.

This van would make an ideal spare room/office or holiday let and is ready for immediate use without any repairs necessary.

Car-towable Gypsy Bowtop Caravan/Vardo

This is a recently made bowtop on a 16ft galvanised caravan chassis. It was made a
year ago but has been in storage since December whilst I've been working on it. It has inertia braking and is easily towable with a decently powered car. It is has a finished painted exterior which is currently undecorated so there is lots of scope for design. A lot of care and attention has gone into the door surround which is scalloped and carved.

The inside space is 14ft long and the diameter is roughly 6ft 6", it includes a bed frame and a small wood burning stove. The canvas is treated and there is insulation underneath so retains heat very nicely. It also has some decent storage shelving under the bed. Plenty of room
for kitchen, storage etc to be added. I've recently finished fitting a wooden floor. Inside is lined with hessian which has a great organic look. The back window is big and lets in lots of light. The front has a 2 ft deck/veranda.

Irish Gypsy Showmans Wagon
 Burton style

About 1890 -1900,  so sayeth Denis Harvey
the author of ' The Gypsies' and 'The English
Gypsy Caravan'.

Recently restored, with working original
Queenie stove. Very unusual back door.
Three window mollicroft and there is a very beautiful oak ladder that goes with it too.

Back wheels 3'6" and front wheels 3'.
Maker on wheels is H. Cockwill Builder Meeth written on brass hub. The axle maker is
Richard and Sons, Wednesbury.

Delightfully simple carvings of leaves on
porch brackets and inside. Rather enchanting examples of naive art.

It spent a number of years in the Tilford folk museum.

It has been in the same family for the last 35 years so this is a very sad sale, due to moving.
