Justice Eve's Caravan

Justice Eve's historic caravan. This is a rare opportunity to acquire Justice Eve's (Sir Harry Trelawyn Eve) 1906 Jones of Summertown, Oxford, reading-style caravan with full provenance.

It has featured in many articles over the years and is well documented. Restored over last 3 years. New set of wheels on original iron tyres.
All other features original. Original Queenie stove fitted.

This was a gentleman's caravan built for one of the pioneer caravanners without sporting the bling associated with Gypsy wagons.

Dry stored for most of its life so the wood is in very good order. A beautiful piece of unique English caravanning history. Original steps and shafts.

Viewing essential to appreciate its beauty. Sensible offers invited.

Road Towable Bowtop

Newly built 15' long road towable wagon , on a new twin axle galvanised chassis. Fully braked with lights.

Ash bows, pine walls and floor. Canvas roof, insulated with felted wool and lined with fabric.
Very warm in winter, would benefit from a woodburner, I can fit a Windysmithy WoodBurner if required.

We had this built for ourselves, on a chassis made to our design, and the width at the bed level is 6'1" . The roof height in the middle is 6' 1 1/2". I am 6'3"!

It would suit anyone a little shorter, and would be excellent for glamping sites, a garden office, or better, for a full time travelling life.

This has a child's bed underneath, a kitchen area with space for a gas cooker, and we can fit a Windysmithy woodburner , if required.

There are two windows for added in the walls, as well as a glazed stable door, a kids' window and a bay window on the back wall.

Fitted with  LED  12v lights, powered by a battery in the rear battery box.

It tows happily at 70mph, although i have seen more streamlined trailers going down the road.  I'd recommend a large estate car or a 4x4 or van to tow it.

Payment cash, or to be cleared before collection. Bank transfer or cheque.

Any questions give us a ring 07756100681 (sensible times only please) or email windysmithy@gmail.com for lots more photos.

Burton Showman Wagon - Reading style
Axle Stamped 1890

This is a beautiful wagon for restoration.

It has had new iron shod wheels made and the under carriage repaired. Since these pictures it has also had replacement windows and shutters fitted.

It was used for a theatre project in the summer and so had its roof felted and was varnished on the outside to withstand showers etc. We also had a tow bracket made up for it so it is towable by vehicle though obviously speed needs to be kept to around 5mph.

The wagon is located in Bristol currently however we live in Cornwall so viewing needs to be by appointment with some notice. We will be with the wagon on the 18th October and would be available for viewings then, will also take more photos then to post.

Towbow

A bowtop wagon built by myself as a towbow on a new galvanized Alko caravan chassis that can be towed by a reasonably sized car. It is well within British legal requirements to be used as a towable caravan.

It weighs about 850kg and is L 15ft x H 6.2ft x W 6.4ft inside, so is much larger than a conventional bowtop caravan as it's built for towing.

It is fully insulated with 12 volt lighting inside and a 240 volt hook up. It has a large double bed in the bow and a futon double below. It has storage bench seating with a cupboard and kitchen unit.

It has a stained glass top window and a conventional opening bottom window with stable doors at the front. It is fully wagon painted and varnished and is about 18 months old.
