Accommodation Top
and Artillery Wheeled Dray

Accommodation top design and built to lift off so the dray can be used separately. 

Compact and light weight the top measurers:
6 ft high inside, 7ft 5" from front to back inside and 8ft 5" outside. Inside floor width is 4ft 6" and the bed spot is 5ft 10" long and when fully pulled out is 4ft wide. Bench seats both sides and one storage cupboard plus storage under the bed space.

The dray is 8ft x 5ft on 4 stud 19" Artillery wheels , with a wind on brake, wooden shafts and a large pan box.

The roof sheet is in good condition with no rips. This is an Open Lot (open fronted no door) and the front sheet is a little worn. Front doors and windows could easily be added so could a stove and delivery can be arranged

Showman Waggon
Built Circa 1930s

For sale - our 20ft Showman’s Wagon. We have had it for over 20 years and use it as part of our accommodation business in the North of Scotland.

It is believed to be built in Buckhaven in the 1930s, and is on WW2 axles/wheels. It is laid out as a single room and has some bevelled glass.

We have re-covered the roof. Some tidying required. Trailer, not tow, away.



Bowtop Waggon

Full size, Bowtop waggon in need of tidying.

In good water tight condition. This waggon needs a bit of paint to bring it back to life. Recently converted from an open lot into a doors and windows waggon.

It comes with shafts, steps , cratch, wind on brake and a pan box.

Complete standard layout inside on a 9ft x 5ft dray with pull out bed at the rear measuring   approx. 6'4 " x 4' when pulled out. Opening rear window.

The wooden wheels were fully rebuilt in 2015 so should last 100 years, it never has had a stove fitted but I do have a queenie I would sell separate.




Original Norfolk Cart

Regularly used and pulled by a 14.1hh cob. It is very sound and has been repainted. Always a eye turner, and conversation piece. Beautifully balanced,and runs like a silver cross pram!

Now very rare. This wagon is in original condition with its original paint, and was in the same Romany family from when it was built.
A rare survivor indeed.



Bowtop Gypsy Waggon

Traditional window and door caravan. Single bed bunk. Top waterproof, but needs painting or replacing to look its best. 

Currently situated in a lovely Caravan Park in Shakespeare Country. Regrettably selling due to imminent move.


22ft Showman Caravan

Orton and Spooner - 22' showmans caravan for sale. Built in 1905 I am told, but the makers plate is no longer on it .

It was the booking office for the Bristol Packet before moving to us in North Pembrokeshire .
It is in need of some renovation but is basically sound. I towed it from the field down to our yard with no problems .

Renovation is not something we wish to do hence the sale .  I am looking for sensible offers bearing in mind these are rare and the opportunity to own one doesn't arise very often .

Built circa 1918

Built by Hirst Brothers of Woodlesford,
Leeds in 1918 for Joe Cunningham.
It's in every book, and known to be one of the best waggons in it's day. It was in the
Romany Museum of Peter Ingram, who last painted it in 1974.
A collector's piece and the only
Hirst Brothers waggon left.

Built by the Renowned, Master Builders, Phillip & David Jowett of Lancashire. Arguably the finest builders of Bowtop waggons today. Tastefully painted by

Built by William Watson of Belper, Derbyshire, who was noted for building high quality living vans between 1881-1922.
'Albert Hall' is a stunning example of a fully restored Watson of Belper Showman Caravan. Dry stored in its own barn by the present owner for around 20yrs and carefully looked after.


Burton Waggon

A superb and, somewhat rare, very attractive Burton Waggon with strong indications it is by Thomas of Chertsey having been built in 1914.

Thomas Vardo's are always soundly constructed and represent some of the prettiest and nicest designs around. The chamfering, carving and decoration on this Vardo is outstanding and typical of the quality of products to come from Chertsey.

Painstakingly fully restored and painted by Rob Hugg of Winchester over the last few years.

 9ft x 5ft dray in great condition.

Nice swan neck shafts, nicely shaped swooped steps, good sized bed spot, (6ft 6 inch x 2ft 4inch closed and  6'6" x 4ft  when fully pulled out),
good wheels and springs, opening back sash window, good sheet, pan box, two drawers under the bed spot with two cupboards under them, nicely painted no rot anywhere.

There is no stove but I have a queenie stove which can be purchased and fitted by me if buyer requires. Delivery is a possibility.

Burton-Style Showman

Circa 1909

A lovely example of an original Burton-style Showman built by William Wheeler of Guildford, Surrey, who was an early & noted coach builder listed in the town's directory from 1900 to WWI.

Fabulous carvings and beautifully carved porch-brackets typical of Wheeler adorn the body.

Would make an ideal spare room, glamping, work space. Very comfortable, and rolls nicely.

Built Circa late 1920s -1930s

Pre WWII motor drawn leisure caravan, circa late 1920s / 1930s, now available as a
restoration project. In remarkable condition for its age having been dry stored & untouched for over 50 years by it's 2 previous owners. Paper evidence associated with the van indicates it was used by Romany travellers in 1961 in the hop picking fields of Kent.

Overall very good condition, roof needs a little attention to bottom of one edge in corner as fraying. No leaks.

This wagon was mainly used to go to Appleby Horse Fair by Jackie Beaumont

A real Gypsy Vardo. Door and window wagon, built by the best Jowetts of Lancashire and painted by John Greenwood (YORKIE).

This wagon is well known here in County Durham and associated with the Lee family. It is carved inside and out with birds, fruit and vines. It has too many extras to mention. Anybody wanting a real good wagon this is it. This wagon has appeared in many books and DVDs over the years. It is featured in the book 'The Gypsies Then and Now' by John McKale. Justice Eve's Caravan

This is a rare opportunity to acquire Justice Eve's (Sir Harry Trelawyn Eve) 1906 Jones of Summertown, Oxford, reading-style caravan with full provenance.

It has featured in many articles over the years and is well documented. Restored over last 3 years. New set of wheels on original iron tyres.

This was a gentleman's caravan built for one of the pioneer caravanners without sporting the bling associated with Gypsy wagons.

Bowtop Wagon (built by Tommy Gaskin c.1945)

Large bowtop wagon for sale.  Built post War by Tommy Gaskin.

The interior has an original Smith and Wellstood Queen Anne Stove, but very unusually this is a Queen No. 7 and is slightly larger that most Gypsy stoves. The inside is grained in light oak and mahogany, and painted in the style of the builder (Tommy Gaskin).
