Hirst Brothers Bowtop Waggon
Built circa 1918
Built by Hirst Brothers of Woodlesford, Leeds in 1918 for Joe Cunningham.
This waggon is a real part of history. Its in every book, most people know
this
waggon, being one of the best waggons of its day and still takes a bit of
beating now. There is a lot of work in this, fiddle heads and carvings everywhere.
It was in the Romany museum of Peter Ingrams, who last painted it in 1974.
It still
has the hostess stove in, but that needs work and the waggon needs
a paint job. It roaded to Appleby in 2009, from Leeds, with one cob as seen
on Appleby dvds.
This waggon is a collectors piece and the only
Hirst Brothers waggon left.
