1918 - Early 20's Showman Waggon
Unique opportunity to purchase a larger than average, original Showman waggon circa 1918 - early 1920's. Over 18ft in length with a seperate bedroom area at the rear. The body is matchboard build and slightly plain, however the underworks are extremely finely crafted and well built with an unusual style chamferwork not often seen in waggons.
The caravan would have originally been horse drawn, having wooden spoked wheels which would have been smaller and much stockier than you find on the smaller 13ft showmans and overtime, as motor vehicles became dominant, many showman had their caravans converted to run on pneumatic tyres, allowing for greater speed of travel, comfort and less maintenance.
The interior is beautifully fitted out inside with lots of original features, including the original Hostess stove. There is a writing bureau with glass door display cabinet. Fold down dining table. Mirrored cut glass. An exquisite Angel lamp. Beautiful etched glass mollycroft roof. A seperate bedroom area containing a pull out double bed with ample & cleverly designed storage, including a wardrobe with bevelled mirror, below seat storage, locking (keys included) mirrored glass cupboards and a secret interior drawer compartment for valuables.
The exterior is in mostly sound condition, however, there are some areas where restoration would be beneficial but on the whole it is good and solid. Ready to receive it's body colour coach enamel and some fineline decoration to complete to your own tastes. There is a full width belly box as well as a kettle box at the rear for extra storage.
This would make a great additional room for any guest, an office workspace away from the house, or an inspirational space for someone with a creative flair.
