Orton and Spooner

Burton Style Waggon

Circa 1905

A Gypsy family lived in this caravan for at least the first 80 years of its life. It would have roamed the British country side pulled by a horse and be home to a family, often with many members. The wagons were passed down through the generations and were dearly loved and cared for. When the owner died it was usual for the caravan to be burnt. So that is why very few Gypsy Vardos have survived.

This Romany caravan has been restored to a high standard, with new wheels and a complete repaint with all original colours. It was originally built with oak from top to bottom, and would have been considered the Rolls Royce of its day. There is a pull out double bed and a bed below for the children. A pull out table, washing up bowl with waste, and an electric supply point, and lots of storage. New metal shafts and steps.
An original Vardo would not have electricity, but I thought it be a great help when on a site.

The stove is an original 1890 French one, but has not been tested as a couple of pieces seem to be missing.

Viewing is welcome and I think essential to appreciate the quality.

£16250 or best offer. Bacs or Bank Transfer.

I have the caravan advertised else where so may have to stop sale early. More pictures are available on
